First Friday means FREE Theatre Join REP on September 3rd for a First Friday full of FREE Theatre. REP will present Lanford Wilson's one-act play EUKIAH at 7pm, 8pm, and 9pm. EUKIAH features REP Ensemble members Ivan Bobashev and Eric Morales and is directed by REP's Artistic Director C. Glen Matthews. Members of the REP Ensemble will be offering tours of 213 Fayetteville Street, and popcorn and beverages will be provided. Contributions to REP's Dream. Believe. Do Campaign will be accepted throughout the evening.
Raleigh City Council Supports REP REP learned on June 30th that the Raleigh City Council approved an appropriation of $60,000 to be used toward the completion of 213 Fayetteville Street and REP's new home.
Mayor Charles Meeker delivered the wonderful news himself by telephone, reasserting his support for REP and the company's move to Raleigh's main street. The money will be combined with other fundraising dollars to complete construction on the first floor of the building. In fact, it's REP goal to match the city's appropriation over the course of the 2010/2011 season. REP launched its matching initiative at the recent (REP Sings!)2 on Saturday, August 7. This free evening of music hosted by Canady Thomas (ALWAYS...PATSY CLINE) raised over $2000 toward the goal. If you missed (REP Sings!)2, stay tuned for additional opportunities to play your part in helping REP match the City of Raleigh's generous appropriation. REP extends its deepest gratitude to all who answered the call to action during the month of June, writing letters of support to the city council on behalf of REP. This collective effort, bolstered by the leadership of REP Board member Don Davis, is the reason for our success. Congratulations and Many Thanks to All! |
